Jean Baptiste Beaubien Elementary School is a Chicago Public School serving the Jefferson Park community on the Northwest side of Chicago. Programs include Preschool, Special Education, Bilingual Education, and a Regional Gifted Center (grades 1-8).
The Beaubien motto "One School, One Family" emphasizes the school community's belief that a diverse population provides the opportunity for all to learn from each other and grow together. Beaubien's focus on both diversity and unity can be observed through the integration of all students in clubs, sports, and monthly activities. Beaubien has consistently placed among the top ten schools in Chicago. Its academic teams have consistently won city-wide competitions. Winners of the school's science fair have advanced to the region, city and state-wide science fairs. Beaubien's sports programs offer many students the opportunity to participate in team sports while engaging in positive social interactions.
Beaubien celebrated its Centennial Anniversary in 2005. The students, staff, and administration participated in the creation of mosaics which are displayed around the school thanks to the dedication and fundraising of the PTO. In addition to this contribution, Beaubien’s PTO has consistently supported the staff through funds for classroom libraries, new technology, and other curricular needs.
Beaubien recently updated both the Mac and IBM computer labs in addition to adding a laptop cart with computers that the teachers can use in their classrooms.
Beaubien operates on the standard ten month (September through June) schedule and normal school hours are 7:55 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
