Beaubien Elementary School is a Chicago Public School serving the
Jefferson Park community on the Northwest side of Chicago. Programs
include preschool, special education, bilingual education and a
regional gifted center for grades 1-8. Scholastic and enrichment
after school and summer programs are also offered.
The Beaubien motto "One School,
One Family" emphasizes the school community's belief that a diverse
population provides the opportunity for all to learn from each other
and grow together. Beaubien's focus on both diversity and unity, has
led to vast improvements in its academic and social atmosphere.
Beaubien has consistently placed among the top ten schools in
Chicago. Its academic teams have won the city-wide math competitions
and Academic Olympics. Winners of the school's science fair have
advanced to the region, city and state-wide science fairs.
Beaubien's sports teams have an excellent record and its drama club
is known for its productions of world premiere plays.
The physical facilities have recently undergone a total renovation.
The more than a century old main building has had new windows
installed throughout, hardwood floors have been rewired for air
conditioning and fitted for cable access to the Internet. An air
conditioned and Internet wired primary annex has been added. An
active PTO has aided in having the school's grounds completely
landscaped, and a wild flower garden planted a number of years ago
continues to thrive. In honor of the school's 100th anniversary in
2005, a series of murals were installed thanks to the generosity of
the P.T.O.
Beaubien operates on a ten month (September through June) schedule
and its normal school hours are 7:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m
